A few months ago, I decided to wage a war on poverty. What I discovered in my journey was that fear was the basis for all circumstances of lack. Fear of success, fear of rejection, fear of abandonment and more importantly, a A FEAR OF LOSS. The reason why a fear of loss resonates at such a higher magnitude than the others is because IT STOPS US FROM TAKING DIVINELY GUIDED ACTION. It springs us into possessive, attached, protection mode. The only problem is that it shuts you off to transformational change as well as life evolving opportunities. Now that we are aware of this, now is the time to WAGE A WAR ON FEAR, if you haven't already. Here's how we're going to do limit fear's power in your life.
1. IDENTIFY YOU FEAR. Before I was able to face and overcome all of the fears I had accumulated over my life, I had to identify them. Once I identified them, I related each one to the experiences of my life where fear dominated. Being unaware of the fear that's affecting you is like driving without a map. If you need to change direction at some point how will you know if you can't comprehend what you're trying to overcome. So, what fear do you have? If an important person left your life at an impressionable time, you may have a fear of abandonment or loss. If you were ostracized for being different or felt unloved as a child or teenager, you may have a fear of rejection. Either way, find out which one you have so you can alleviate it from your life.
2. REVERSE YOUR FEAR ON THE SPOT. So you're in the process of winning your war against fear and then WHAM! It pops up in a situation you're facing. All you have to do is stop for a moment, take a deep breath, neutralize, and say to yourself I CHOOSE POWER OVER FEAR. The more you do this, the more your subconscious mind will help you to choose empowering behavior over disempowering behaviors.
3. LEAN INTO YOUR FEARS. In most cases, the ability to think is wonderful, but when it comes to fear ,it's often a great idea to just not think at all and jump right into it. Your action will inspire you on so many levels. I remember I had a HUGE fear of water and I finally came to a point where I was staring down the ocean. The more I thought, the scarier it got. So I said to myself, you can do this and I took the plunge. I had my wife tape the whole thing and she was truly elated. But the point is, if you lean into your fear and go full speed ahead right at it, you will prosper and evolve beyond your wildest imagination.
I encourage you to go into this war with an understanding that victory has always meant to be yours. Fear was never meant to cripple you, but rather teach you the greatest lesson in life: YOU ARE CAPABLE OF JUST ABOUT ANYTHING.
