I am a mom, a storyteller, an author and a civil rights advocate who currently blogs for the Huffington Post. As an author of two books, I have written numerous articles on how to follow your heart. I currently work for one non-profit and am the co-founder of another one. I passionately believe that the road to healing starts from being kind and compassionate to yourself first. Being a woman of color, born in America who has traveled the world- I have an unusual perspective on things. I have been blessed to sit with the richest and the poorest humans (not just in monetary terms) and it has made me a good listener and a connector. My life's philosophy is to follow my dream of telling stories of everyday heroes no matter where in the world they come from, to spread compassion and also to help other aspiring writers achieve their goals. I have been blessed to travel the world and also had a column in the Khaleej Times, a local newspaper in Dubai, UAE. Writing has been my oxygen, my love and my therapy for as long as I can remember. I would love to share my work and my stories with you, and would also love to hear yours too. I am a proud mother of three wonderful children, who make me a better person every day.

Today I want to ask you this question: Why is it that some people achieve their dreams and reach their destiny while others continue to stay stuck where they are? When you think about it, how did a tiny nun become one of the most powerful and compassionate women in India? Why do you think Nelson Mandela gave up 27 years of his life to a tiny jail cell in order to bring about social change? There is..

Today I want to say many things some might hurt while others might pleasantly surprise you. Yes, I know I get emotional and when we talk about the past and the mistakes we made, I cry and accuse you of being mean yet deep down I know that I was at fault too. But..

Marriage has always been an interesting topic of discussion. Sometimes when Im sitting with some of my friends they will be complaining about their husbands and how marriage is difficult. How their husbands are lazy and insensitive, how they wish their men would care more about them and then they will turn around and say with a sigh, "Well at least I'm not alone." After that comment I usually get "the..
