I lost my taste for beef burgers back in college. So for the past 30 years, I've been making delicious homemade turkey burgers. After reading an article on the chemicals that are hiding in fast food, I thought I share my recipe for "Come Back for Seconds" turkey burgers:

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey (between 93% - 99%)
  • 1/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

In a large bowl, mix all ingredients together. Form into 4 to 6 patties. Grease your skillet with a very light coating of olive oil or non-stick spray. Cook until done in the skillet or on the grill over medium heat. Turn once, then add your favorite sliced cheese, cover with lid and melt. Serve on buns with desired toppings (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, sprouts, sweet relish, catsup, mustard, mayo, pickles, barbecue sauce, whatever you like!) If you anticipate your guests coming back for seconds, then double the recipe. Enjoy!
