"How to Have a Better Quality of Life with this Disease"
Many people around the world have Sickle Cell Anemia and have a terrible time of all the symptoms. Sickle Cell Anemia creates, pain, fatigue, gallbladder stones, inflammation, infections, painful erections, strokes, and high blood pressure. Here are a few herbs and supplements that I recommend that will help to increase oxygen to the body and also create more energy and vitality... and help with the symptoms.
Octacosanol Supplement - This supplement is not well known but has been used by lots of professional athletes to improve athletic performance in high altitude situations. Octacosanol works by allowing hemoglobin to carry more oxygen thus providing more vital energy and stamina. Take 1 or 2 - 8,000 mcg capsules daily. And Octacosanol is totally non-toxic.
Suma Root - Suma root has been shown in studies to give a person more vital energy and build strength. Taking 3/4 teaspoon of Suma root powder daily or 2 - 400 mg capsules daily can work wonders to improve a person's quality of life.
Echinacea – Studies show that Echinacea stimulates bone marrow production of new red blood cells. It also contains B vitamins and cobalt that are important for red blood cell production. At Northwestern State University it was found that large doses of Echinacea increased erythropoietin production... which is a very important compound that promotes red blood cell production. Take 1 - 500 mg capsule daily.
Eat Lots of Berries - Berries contain lots of anthocyanins which are important in order to inhibit Sickle Cell Anemia. The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences at the University of Kinshasa found that eating lots of berries seemed to work well for suppressing Sickle Cell Anemia.
Exercise - Studies show that those who did moderate exercise daily had fewer problems with the symptoms associated with Sickle Cell Anemia. Walk, swim, or ride a bike one hour daily.
Dandelion – Studies show that there are significant increases in red blood cell production in mice when given Dandelion root extract. Dandelion contains many powerful compounds including levulin, tracxacerin, and inulin. Take 1 - 400 mg capsule daily.
Yellow Dock Powder – Normally used for detoxing... this wonderful herb also helps stimulate the bone marrow to produce red blood cells and it also works well for eczema and liver conditions. Most people take 1 - 500 mg capsule daily.
Glutamine - Taking supplements of glutamine seems to help with the symptoms of Sickle Cell Anemia. And those taking the supplement had much lower expenditures of energy than those that did not take the supplement especially teenagers and children. Most take 300 mg per pound of body weight.
Goji Berries - Goji berries are full of life giving energy. And those that eat 30 to 40 dried organic goji berries daily have more energy and enjoy life. And it's also very good for healing the body in general and extending one's lifespan.
Boswellia - Boswellia is a powerful natural anti-inflammatory that works great for getting rid of redness, pain, and swelling which are common with Sickle Cell Anemia. Take 4 - 250 mg capsules twice a day for 7 days and then take a week off and repeat if needed.
Rehmannia Powder – This Chinese herb has been around for thousands of years... and studies show that Rehmannia will help the bone marrow produce more red blood cells. It's traditionally used with other herbs for those suffering from anemia. Take 5 to 10 grams of the herb daily.
Dong Quai Powder – Has been used for thousands of years for blood deficiencies, and many times it's used in combination with goji berries and peony for boosting up blood production and also improving vitality and energy. Take from 1 - 500 mg capsule up to 3 times a day.
N-Acetylcysteine Supplementation - Taking 1,200 and up to 2,400 mg of N-Acetylcysteine daily in studies seems to help prevent painful Sickle Cell Anemia attacks. And studies showed that N-Acetylcysteine reduced Sickle Cell Disease related oxidative stress.
Astragalus Root Powder – Astragalus is common Chinese Herb and now used in regular herbal medicine with great abilities to increase red blood cell production. And can help those with low white blood cell numbers to increase production and thus create balance. And it also helps to increasesÂ energy and vitality. Take 1 - 400 mg capsule daily.
Horney Goat Weed – This herb is usually used for increasing sexual desire and helping with impotence. But it also helps with kidney energy... and kidney energy translates into bone marrow health in Chinese Medicine. And thus Horney Goat Weed along with other herbs can make a difference in red blood cell production. Take 1 - 500 mg capsule daily.
Vitamin D Supplementation - Studies with children show that taking 4,000 IUD of Vitamin D daily seemed to increase hemoglobin, lower C-reactive protein or inflammation, and increased platelet production. But Vitamin D can be toxic at high levels so monitor how you feel. But this level of Vitamin D supplementation was well tolerated in the studies.
Chlorella - Taking this powerful alga will boost up iron stores in your body and thus help with hemoglobin production. Thus helping to create more energy, vitality, and stamina. Chlorella contains all the essential and none essential proteins needed for good blood cell production. Take 3,000 mg daily... chlorella is food so it can be taken for long periods of time.
Deer Antler Powder – Remember this product can be removed from the deer without hurting the animal. And in Chinese Medicine, it does have many great health benefits including containing fibroblast growth factor, insulin-like growth factor, and epidermal growth factor, powerful proteins for building tissues, an amazing amount of trace minerals, and interleukins for stimulating the immune system and thus blood production. And at the same time giving a boost to your immune system. Check with your Traditional Chinese Health Practitioner about taking deer antler powder.
Paud'arco Bark Powder – Way back in the 1800's it was noted that Paud'arco increased red blood cell production and also helps with inflammation, and it's a great anti-bacterial and anti-viral agent too and it helps with the leg ulcers. One of the best ways to take this herb is to take 5 pencil size pieces of Paud'arco wood and place them in a quart jar of water and place the jar in the frig for 24 hours. Drink a little of the light red water every day. When the water turns very light in color replace the wood and start over.

Other herbs that can help with Sickle Cell Anemia are Bilberry, Red Raspberry Leaf, Mullein, Hawthorn Berries, Bay Berry, and Red Clover.
About Taking These Herbs - You will have to try all of these herbs and supplements to see which ones work for you. Just like some antibiotics work for some people and not for others. And like some anti-depressants work for some people and not for others the same goes for herbs and supplements... we are all different.
Take Only What You Need - Only take those herbs that work best for you. Also, it's best to only take herbs for 7 to 10 days...and then take a week off and repeat if needed.
