I am a clinically licensed Counselor and board certified Art Therapist. Art therapy is not intended to create works of beauty, but rather to offer an alternative method of expressing thoughts and feelings. My passion comes from the belief that the art making process restores well-being. With training and experience in using a variety of art materials, I also understand the process of learning and mastering a new skill. You do not need to be a skilled artist to benefit from Art Therapy. I may encourage you to develop your art making abilities, but little experience is needed. With the use of art materials and other expressive media, Art Therapy can provide individuals of all ages the opportunity to reduced stress, find solutions to specific problems, and enjoy greater satisfaction in relationships. Those who struggle to open up through traditional psychotherapy may benefit from this method. Together we will develop a plan uniquely suited to your lifestyle and personal goals to find what empowers you to become more of who you desire to be. Treatment theories that may be incorporated into exercises and educational topics may include art psychotherapy, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, dyadic developmental psychotherapy, and trauma informed art therapy.
