I am the owner and Clinical Director of ESS. As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) in Florida, North Carolina, Louisiana, and Ohio, I have more than 12 years of experience in the areas of mental health. I see therapy as a collaborative process every step of the way- from goal setting to termination. We look at strengths, and focus on what we know is already working. I believe that each individual has a different way to relating to the world and I treat each client based on their individual needs. I currently work with individuals, children, adolescents, couples, and families. I can provide biblically-based counseling upon request. I have experience with individuals dealing with behavioral difficulties, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, fertility issues, and social skills training. I have experience with adolescents and adults dealing with body image issues and I use a family systems perspective to help them build a healthy recovery environment. My experience with couples ranges from unmarried young adult couples, pre-marital couples, and married couples who want to enhance their intimacy and married couples thinking about or going through a divorce. I also work with the entire family to improve communication, closeness, sibling and parent relationships. My goal for clients is to help face past hurts, and then make use of the strengths they have acquired because of and in spite of their deprivation. I use therapeutic techniques that are designed to meet those goals (e.g. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-CBT, Family Systems, Gottman Method Couples Therapy model, Solution Focused Therapy, Mind/Body Techniques, Narrative Therapy, Dialetic Behavior Therapy-DBT, Restorative Justice, Family Mediation, Grief and Loss).
