Dr. Christina Bjorndal ND

Christina Bjorndal

Dr. Bjorndal has an incredible story of struggling with depression (including several suicide attempts – one that left her in a coma, with kidney failure, on dialysis awaiting a kidney transplant), severe anxiety, an eating disorder and bipolar disorder type 1. She regained her mental health using a combination of medical, natural and spiritual treatments that she now shares with her patients as a naturopathic doctor. Prior to making a career change to become a naturopathic doctor, she reported to a high profile CEO in Canada and worked in the banking industry.

She has developed an approach for healthy living that gets to the root cause of many mental health conditions and is changing the lives of patients across the continent. She is an example of the strength that comes from lived experience of serious mental illness and offers the possibility of healing for others who struggle. An author, speaker and gifted teacher, Dr. Bjorndal draws on her many personal and inspirational stories to motivate, inspire and uplift. Having overcome many challenges in the sphere of mental health, Dr. Chris is especially exceptional about sharing her motivational speeches about how to overcome barriers in life and to encourage others to achieve their full potential. Dr. Chris’s vulnerability, enthusiasm and experience will inspire patients, other practitioners, and students to be best that they can be.

Too many people feel chronically stagnant with mental symptoms, or not fully healed by conventional medical treatments and lose hope for a healthy future. While not being antagonistic with conventional medicine, Dr. Chris’s story highlights the incredible advantages of the front lines of integrative medicine, and serves to motivate and engage people in their own healing process. Her approach sparks deep self-learning and self-healing that gets to the root of mental illness with humor, honesty and compassion.

(Originally written June 10, 2015) Yesterday was the 21st anniversary of my suicide attempt. I've written about this before, but this year I have been writing my book and in this process I have been reviewing my journals. It is no coincidence that last week, I was reading my journal from 1994 (age 27) when my struggle into darkness seemed impossible to emerge from. I think I have had the experiences..

(Originally written on June 9, 2014) Today is the 20th anniversary of a suicide attempt that left me in a coma, on dialysis with kidney failure waiting for a kidney transplant. The months leading up to this attempt were very dark. I had recently been promoted as a Commercial Lender, but unbeknownst to me, the Branch manager "fixed" the commercial portfolios so that the one I managed had all the problem..
