Shonda Moralis, MSW, LCSW earned her Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania and B.A. from Dickinson College. She writes an ongoing blog, Breathe, Mama, Breathe:Mindful Balance for Busy Moms, for the Psychology Today website and was also featured on WFMZ-TV’s Life Lessons program. A psychotherapist in private practice since 2000 and trained as a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher in 2006, Shonda specializes in the use of Mindfulness-Based Interventions in both individual and group therapy. She has studied under Jon Kabat-Zinn, Susan Kaiser-Greenland, and Tara Brach.

She is the author of Breathe, Mama, Breathe: 5-Minute Mindfulness for Busy Moms (January 2017, The Experiment).

Shonda has also co-developed various mindfulness group curricula for children, parents, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. She has presented seminars on mindfulness to moms’ clubs, college faculties, and student groups. She has also combined therapy and mindfulness education in numerous settings, including an inner city after-school program, taught yoga classes with teen girls in a group home, and most recently, by teaching Breathe, Mama, Breathe workshops.

Shonda was previously featured as a regular columnist forAllentown, Pennsylvania’s “The Morning Call” newspaper and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.

As a devoted mindfulness meditator and teacher, psychotherapist, and experienced mom, I was caught unawares when the birth of my second child, a decade after the first, left me feeling slightly unhinged. Opposed to throwing the baby out with the mindfulness
